Why Stansfield College?
| 1) Registered Centre & Specialist Provider of University of London International Programmes in Singapore
Stansfield College has been providing University of London International Programmes for over 18 years, offering more than 70 subjects for the degree programmes. This has resulted in our ability to produce many top students consistently every year. In 2010, Stansfield College was awarded the 'Registered Centre' status by the University of London for demonstrating quality standards in our support to University of London International Programme students in their preparations for examinations.
The Stansfield Group has also been awarded the status of 'Singapore Quality Class for Private Education Organisation' (SQC). The SQC is only given by the Singapore government to organisations which are deemed to be world-class. Stansfield College is proud to be part of a world class organisation in our pursuit towards helping others succeed.
| 2) Outstanding Commitment of our Faculty at Stansfield
Stansfield College has an outstanding faculty and an excellent staff. Staff members are committed to going the extra mile to provide exceptional service to our students. Our full-time faculty are dedicated to excellence in teaching and getting students through the challenging University of London examinations, which are set and marked to strict standards by the University of London & its lead colleges. They are augmented by a team of adjunct faculty who are carefully screened, many of whom have been with us as effective lecturers for some time.
| 3) Flexible Mode of Study
Stansfield College recognizes that adult learners, interested to pursue a part-time course of studies, would prefer a schedule allowing balance between work and classes. Our Evening Colleges are therefore designed with affordability and outside of class support. Our focus is to provide the best guidance to each and every student who enrols with us.
| 4) 24/8 Learning System
At Stansfield, we are committed to totally immersing our students in their subjects to optimise their chances of not only passing but excelling at their chosen path of studies. Therefore, we provide an exceptionally high lecturer to student ratio and limit student numbers to a maximum of 24 students per lecture and 8 students per tutorial with over 25 hours of class contact time per week in the critical 1st year of full-time study. Tutorials are conducted to follow-up on the lectures to ensure students comprehend the topics covered in the lectures. The tutorials also provide students the opportunity to clarify any doubts. In turn, the lecturers will evaluate if the learning objectives have been achieved. The small lecture and tutorial size allow for peer-to-peer learning, better interaction and encouraging more proactive participation from the students, and for lecturers to better assess each student and their individual learning capabilities.
| 5) Personalized Assisted Learning
(PAL) Sessions |
The PAL Learning System allows all students to have a one-to-one consultation with the teachers to ensure they fully understood the learning outcomes. The one-to-one coaching encourages students who are not vocal during their time in the classroom to be able to voice out their views and ask questions. We find the system absolutely useful to anyone who wants to reinforce their views on what they have learned or failed to learn in the actual lectures.
| 6) Induction Programme |
The programme held at the beginning of the course is aimed to provide a smooth transition for students into their course of study as well as to acclimatise international students to local culture and living. Students will be briefed on the various administrative and academic procedures of the University and orientate and induct the students into the culture of Stansfield College. The programme is mainly designed to provide foundation skills and familiarize students with aspects of each subject the students will be studying before the commencement of their course.
| 7) Intensive Revision Courses
The 6 Weeks Intensive Revision Sessions are structured to be examination orientated and to refresh key points within each subjects so as to ensure the students are well prepared for the actual University of London Examinations. Having finished the syllabus, the Intensive Revision Sessions are usually held in the month of April, just slightly after the internal Mock Examinations and a month before the University of London International Examinations. On occasions faculty of the University of London are invited to conduct these Intensive Sessions and share useful examinations tips and techniques with our students.
| 8) Discussions & Study Groups
In the real world, people have to work alongside each other to achieve organisational goals and work place targets. Hence students at Stansfield College are exposed to similar environments and are taught the skills needed for survival at the work place such as forming and working in a collaborative relationship. Study groups are catered to students and form the basis of our peer-to-peer teaching and learning at the College. Students are expected to meet for an hour daily as group learning plays a fundamental part to students’ individual and academic development. Group learning also helps in the pooling of knowledge and the building of learning resources with the benefit of enhancing the students’ drive and motivation to learn and excel in their studies and life. We have both supervised and non-supervised study group sessions. Lecturers, Tutors and Mentors usually rotate to conduct, assist and observe the supervised study group and to enhance as well as motivate the group dynamics.
